Montana History: Montana in Time and Place

Mrs. Cook – 7th Grade

Welcome to a year of Montana History!

The two principle goals of this class will be as follows:

  1. To give students an understanding of Montana’s human history from approximately 14,000 years ago to present.

  2. To place Montana’s history into a larger context of American history.

This year we will be looking at Montana’s history and learning about the state in which we live. We will be looking at our state’s resources, it’s boom-bust mentality, many of its famous people and will even devote a chapter entirely centered on the city of Butte.

Once again, we will be learning this history through teaching, reading, lectures, reports, and skits. So be prepared for an INTERESTING year. This year, you should be able to access my assignments on the webpage under my name at the following address: www.kaycook.com Soon, hopefully my website and on-line grades will be available at the school website.

For my class you will need the following materials:

  1. Part of your 5-subject binder OR a separate notebook especially for Montana History. We will have a book, which is wonderful, but you still will need to take notes in class

  2. You need a separate folder for all papers I give you for this class. You need to put this form in the folder, as well as all other project and worksheets I give you. I will check them once a quarter and you will receive a grade for this.

  3. You need pen, pencil, and colored pencils for this class.

To achieve a decent grade in this class:

  1. You need to take notes!!! You have to be responsible ON YOUR OWN to get notes from another member of your class. You are in 7th grade and are capable of doing this.

  2. You need to complete your reviews and study them and your notes for ANY test.

  3. You need to complete projects and reports I assign you.

Have your parents or guardians sign below and return this page to me by next class (it should be in your NEW folder):
