Welcome to 6th Grade World History!

Hello! We are looking forward to a great year learning all about world history! I just wanted to give you and your parents an idea of some of the great things you will be learning all year. In world history we will learn all about map skills, world cultures and human history starting from Mesopotamia up to the modern day. During the year we will be working with group projects to better understand different times and ages. We will make costumes, explore the Internet, create newspapers, eat different foods, and might even be able to have a Renaissance Fair! Most of the projects for my class will now be located on the following site with my name: www.kaycook.com . Hopefully, my website and student on-line grades will soon be available from the school’s website.
Some other skills we will work on this year will include the following:
learning to take notes, learning to review for tests, learning to use your homework calendar, learning to use the internet to find and use information, and how to write reports.
For my class you will need the following materials:
A separate notebook or part of your 5 subject binder especially for World History for taking notes.
A separate folder for all papers I give you for this class. You need to put this form in the folder, as well as all other project and worksheets I give you. I will check them once a quarter and you will receive a grade for this.
You need pen, pencil, and colored pencils for this class.
To achieve a decent grade in this class:
You need to take notes!!! You have to be responsible ON YOUR OWN to get notes from another member of your class. You are in Junior High and are capable of doing this.
You need to complete your reviews and study them, your book and your notes for ANY test.
You need to complete projects and reports I assign you.
Have your parents or guardians sign below and return this page to me by next class (it should be in your NEW folder):
